And the fatigue life for the Lap Joint Flange Asme B16.5 assembly is only one tenth that of Welding Neck flanges.The Lap Joint Flange Asme B16.5 Class 300 could be used in all pressures rating environments. Loose flange is available in a full size range. Since the alloy steel Lap Joint flange tends to slip over the pipe, they are not welded or otherwise fastened to it. Bolting pressure is transmitted to the gasket from the pressure received by the carbon steel Lap Joint flange against the back of the pipe lap or Stub End.
